MOBILE — Last month’s Morgan Wallen concert at the Mobile Fairgrounds, branded “The Grounds,” was declared a “tremendous success” by the event’s organizers, 46 Entertainment.
According to a press statement issued by 46 Entertainment, the Mobile fairgrounds event on November 12 sold 31,000 tickets, which was the most ever for Wallen.
However, in addition to the event having set records for Wallen and having gone off without any significant safety concerns, the event had a whopping $8.1 million impact on the local Mobile economy.
“The revenue totals related to the concert for the City of Mobile were $8,156,538 due to an economic impact report created by the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce through IMPLAN,” the press statement said. “The report was based on overall totals from ticket sales, lodging, transportation, and food/beverages related to the Morgan Wallen concert on November 12.”
“With over 90 acres, The Grounds was a perfect venue for a show of this size!” Nathan Baugh of 46 Entertainment said. “We really wanted this to be an event that families could enjoy.”
Josh Woods, executive director of The Grounds, touted the venue’s success and predicted more to come with capital improvements underway at the venue.
“We are thrilled to now comprehend the economic impact of the recent concert brought to the city of Mobile by 46 Entertainment,” Woods said. “I am extremely pleased to have had their team choose our venue to host their event, and I look forward to what the future holds for new events at The Grounds as the largest venue in Mobile and the only venue that can successfully host an event of this size and type. I anxiously await the completion of our newest capital improvement project not only to add space but additional facilities to improve experiences.”
The successful Wallen event comes at a pivotal time for Mobilians, as city leaders grapple with the future of older venues, including the Mobile Civic Center and Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Wallen returns to Alabama for shows on July 2 and 3 at Orange Beach’s The Wharf.
